Territet Tourist Signs

Editorial Design, Signage, Tourist Panels

The goal of this project was to create signs to be placed in front
tourist sites in the Montreux region. The tourist sites are located in Glion and Territet and are full of history, these are the Hôtel du Righi Vaudois, the Territet - Glion Funicular and the Alcazar Theater.

Tourist signs should include the following information:

  • A logo representing the site
  • The name of the place
  • A short descriptive text in two languages
  • Practical information such as opening hours
  • Entrance fees
  • A simplified map of the city with the exact location of each place

A photomontage then had to be created by integrating each of the three panels into the corresponding image.

The refinement and wealth that these places exuded during their golden years were the key elements of this creation. I tried to translate them both through the choice of colors in bronze tones and through the minimalist style of the composition. As for the materials, metal being the most robust against weather variations, its panels would be printed with bronze tones on a black background in 60 x 200cm.

In order to facilitate the adaptation of the signage in the event of a change in timetables, the section containing this information would be removable and easily replaceable. Finally, the black illustrations representing human figures at the top were designed to recall the daily life of customers at the time. In addition, their shapes also recall some of the tourist signs existing in the Montreux region.

The tourist sites affected by this project are places of great cultural interest but have been abandoned for several years. Every time I visit or pass by these places, I can't help but imagine what these streets looked like and I feel a great sadness when I see the dilapidated facades collapsing.

The history of these mythical places can be discovered below.
